The University of Strasbourg supports research teams at every stage of the data lifecycle, from production to sharing and publication.
Your entry point for research data support
The ADELE Helpdesk is the support service for research data in Alsace. It helps all research staff manage their research data, and is a one-stop service that responds to requests based on the needs of research units and teams. It brings together support staff from different university services and partner institutions and connects researchers with technical, legal and disciplinary experts.
Services offered by the ADELE Helpdesk
- Support with drafting plans for managing research data
- Advice on FAIR management (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) of data and software code
- Support in choosing a data repository
- Advice on selecting a licence
Publish and share: depositing your data in a repository
Researchers are encouraged to share their research data in disciplinary, thematic or institutional repositories. The French Committee for Open Science (Comité national pour la science ouverte – CoSO) provides a regularly updated list of trusted repositories.
If no trusted repository is available in their field, researchers can deposit their data on the national research data platform Recherche.data.gouv, where the University of Strasbourg has its own institutional space. A local support team assists researchers from the initial deposit through to the publication of their dataset.
Write a data management plan
A data management plan (DMP), is a living document that describes how research data produced or collected by a research team will be managed. They may concern a research project or an entity. Entity data management plans formalise the management of research data for a laboratory, scientific platform or observatory.
The national platform recommended for drafting DMPs is DMP OPIDoR, developed by the Institut de l'information scientifique et technique of the National Centre for Scientific Research (Centre national de la recherche scientifique – CNRS). The ADELE Helpdesk provides support for drafting data management plans and can assist from the project planning stage onwards.
Visualise your research data
The University of Strasbourg has developed the Open Transdisciplinary Digital Platform (Plateforme ouverte numérique transdisciplinaire – POUNT) to help researchers organise, visualise and share their research data. The platform allows users to deposit and store files, describe data using recognised standards (such as DataCite or Dublin Core) and share data via an open API. It also supports interactive visualisation of content, including 3D models and interactive images.
Designed to be modular and interoperable, the platform can be adapted to a wide range of projects and disciplines. A dedicated support team is available to assist users. It brings together the University Libraries' Data Team (BU-data) and the Advanced Computing and Research Services Unit (Pôle calcul et services avancés à la recherche – CESAR) within the university's IT and Digital Services Office (Direction du numérique – DNUM).
