Live in university halls of residence

The Regional Centre for University and Student Services (Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires – Crous) offers low-rent furnished rooms and flats available to students and PhD students. Priority is given to scholarship holders.

Apply for social housing

Students have access to social housing. This is low-rent housing that is cheaper than private accommodation.

The Maison universitaire internationale (MUI) offers more than 100 accommodation units. Priority is given to international students.

Stay in a hostel

Hostels offer rooms and studios to students and young workers. They are often run by charities or religious associations.

Stay in private halls of residence

To find accommodation in a private student residence, contact the residence directly and submit an application file (dossier). Application fees to reserve a room in a private residence are usually equal to around one month’s rent.

Book short-term accommodation at Crous

The Regional Centre for University and Student Services (Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires – Crous) in Strasbourg offers rooms to rent in its residences for less than 3 months. Students and staff in higher education and research can also find accommodation in other cities using the Bed&Crous service.

Stay in a youth hostel

Youth hostels are cheaper than ordinary hotels. There are three youth hostels in Strasbourg that offer dormitory beds and private rooms.

Accommodation for international students

If you are arriving in Strasbourg from abroad, you can apply for accommodation through the Regional Centre for University and Student Services (Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires – Crous) when you enrol at the university.

Accommodation for PhD students

Located on the Esplanade campus, the European Doctoral College (Collège doctoral européen – CDE) reserves 100 studio apartments for PhD students and researchers. Priority is given to PhD students in the International Doctoral Programme (IDP). For the best chance of securing a studio, complete the accommodation pre-booking form as soon as possible.

Accommodation during a research stay in Strasbourg

The Villa Arconati Visconti is reserved for professors, researchers and post-docs visiting Strasbourg. Accommodation is available for periods ranging from one week to three months.

Accessible accommodation for people with reduced mobility

The Regional Centre for University and Student Services (Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires – Crous) offers accommodation adapted for people with reduced mobility.

The European Doctoral College (Collège doctoral européen – CDE) also provides four adapted studios for PhD students with reduced mobility.

Half of the accommodation at the Maison universitaire internationale (MUI) is adapted for people with reduced mobility.
