Quality of education

Since 2011, the University of Strasbourg has been committed to the continuous improvement of its courses and teaching. This ongoing approach, led by our teaching staff, is shaped by valuable feedback from students.

This site is currently being translated into English. Thank you for your patience.

The university implements this approach in line with the national framework and the decisions of its Board of Studies and University Life (Commission formation et vie universitaire – CFVU). It forms part of the university’s Quality and Continuous Improvement Road Map.

Student feedback on courses

At the end of each academic year, students complete a survey of around 30 questions covering all aspects of their studies (Évaluation des formations par les étudiants – EFE). Their answers are shared with quality assurance specialists and management teams, and help inform discussions among teaching staff and programme review committees. Answers can be filtered by faculty, school, institute or course.

Student feedback on teaching

Students also share their views on teaching (Évaluation des enseignements par les étudiants – EEE) at least once every five years. Each faculty, school or institute runs its own evaluation process.

Programme Review Committees

Each course has its own Programme Review Committee, made up of external experts, student representatives and alumni. The committee meets annually to review past actions and propose new measures to enhance the quality of the course.

External evaluation by official bodies

The French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Haut Conseil de l'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur – Hcéres) evaluates courses every five years. It assesses programme attractiveness, student success and employability, as well as the effectiveness of internal evaluation processes.

The University of Strasbourg follows the national Qaliopi quality framework. In 2024, the university signed the French Charter for Responsible and Quality Support for Apprentices in Higher Education Establishments (Charte pour un accompagnement responsable et de qualité des apprentis des établissements d’enseignement supérieur). It meets the requirements of the Qualiopi certification for activities related to continuing education, apprenticeships and the Certification of Past Experience (Validation des acquis de l'expérience – VAE).

Several faculties, schools and institutes have also obtained the ISO 9001 certification, an International standard for quality management systems.
