Launch of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the University of Strasbourg

The prestigious Jean Monnet label on European issues led by the European Union has been awarded to the University of Strasbourg for the cross-border Franco-German Jean Monnet Centre. Attached to Sciences Po Strasbourg, the Jean Monnet Centre was officially launched in November 2018.

Discovery of a stele and two sarcophagi from the 18th Dynasty in Luxor

A joint mission of the French Institute of Oriental Archeology (IFAO) and the University of Strasbourg found a limestone stele of the 18th Dynasty in the area of Padiamenope's tomb in southern Egypt. The two sarcophagi, located near the stele, were opened on 24 November 2018, in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, Khaled el-Anani.

Neuronal activity restored in Alzheimer's mice

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease for which there is no cure. Anne-Laurence Boutillier, researcher at the Laboratory of Cognitive and Adaptive Neuroscience, has managed to restore the functions of genetically modified mice with one of the marks of the disease, namely neurofibrillary tangles.

The dangers of silence for Europe

A springboard named Eiffel
