Casinos, online gambling and betting, a new avenue for money laundering and corruption

The European College of Financial Investigation and Analysis (CEIFAC) in Strasbourg decided to tackle a rarely studied field of research: that of online gambling and betting, as a new avenue for money laundering and corruption. This new subject was explored at a conference that took place in early June in collaboration with the University of Bordeaux.

Boosting the electrical performance of 2D materials with molecular bridges

Researchers from the Nanochemistry Laboratory of the Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering (ISIS) at the University of Strasbourg, in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) and the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), have devised a new molecular strategy to boost the performance of electronic devices based on semiconducting 2D materials. These results have been published in the journal Nature Nanotechnology.

Paolo Samorì, first Strasbourg researcher appointed Fellow of the Materials Research Society

Paolo Samorì, Director of the Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering (ISIS), has been appointed as Fellow of the Materials Research Society (MRS), a first for a Strasbourg-based researcher. This honour recognises his contributions to the advancement of materials science at the international level through the development of new materials and high-performance multifunctional mechanisms, for applications in the fields of (opto)electronics, energy and sensing.

The role of tenascin-C in cancers

Gertraud Orend, a director of research at the Inserm and her team at the Immuno-rhumatologie moléculaire laboratory (Inserm U1109/University of Strasbourg), have demonstrated that the tenascin-C* molecule immobilises cytotoxic T lymphocytes, thus preventing them from reaching tumour cells in order to kill them. The results were published in the journal EMBO Molecular Medicine.

An organic photodetector with natural rhythm

An organic photodetector that is extremely sensitive in the visible and near-infrared range has been developed by researchers at the Nanochemistry Laboratory of the Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering, in collaboration with Tsinghua University and Shenzhen University (China). A first application of this has been produced in the field of health monitoring. This new technology is of particular interest in numerous fields such as motion detection, water and food quality control, biomedical imagery and health and environmental monitoring. The results have recently appeared in the journal Nature Communications.
