Indivisualised Housing Allowance (APL)
The Caisse d'Allocations Familiales (CAF) offers several financial aids for housing:
APL (Aide Personnalisée au Logement)
The APL (Indivisualised housing allowance) is a financial aid to reduce the amount of your rent. It is granted on the basis of your housing situation, regardless of your family status: single, married, with or without dependants. The conditions of allocation differ depending on whether you are renting or living in a hall of residence.
ALS (Allocation de logement à caractère social)
The social housing allowance (ALS) is paid if you do not qualify for either the indivisualised housing allowance (APL) or the family housing allowance (ALF).
ALF (Allocation de logement à caractère familial)
The family housing allowance is paid because of your family situation (recipient of family benefits, dependants, etc.).
We advise you to apply as soon as you arrive in France, even if you do not have all the required documents. You can submit them later.
Online simulator:
You can estimate the amount of your housing benefit using the online simulator available on the CAF website.
