ThemesHeadline news

For the 19th year, French, German and Swiss students, teachers and staff from the five Eucor member universities are riding their bikes together for five days. Strasbourg was the first stopover of the journey.

This year’s Tour Eucor is particular, as the previous months saw the institutional and political assertion of the Upper Rhine universities’ union. The 120 participants of the Tour arrived at the University of Strasbourg on Wednesday, 25 May around 4pm, alongside their 14 logistics assistants. Many of them are regular participants who join the race for the second, third time or more.  “This unique event allows us to meet our neighbours from cross-border countries, different universities and various fields of studies”, says Elise Aeby, Swiss member of the tour in charge of translation. The cyclists left Karlsruhe in the morning and stopped off in Strasbourg for the evening where they enjoyed local Flammekueche and were offered a guided tour of the city by the student association Afges. At the end of a 700km trip, they will reach Mulhouse, Basel and Freiburg, the aim being to stop in each of the five member universities of the European Campus (Karlsruhe Institut für Technologie - KIT, universities of Strasbourg ande Haute-Alsace, University of Basel, Albert-Ludwig University of  Freiburg-im-Breisgau). On Sunday, 29 May, the last and longest stage will lead them from Freiburg to Karlsruhe, where a closing ceremony will take place. We wish them good luck!
