This visit follows the agreement signed in November 2015 by the two universities to promote concrete cooperation activities. Unistra and UM5 are both multidisciplinary universities, which enables exchanges in all disciplines: chemistry, literature and languages, law, teachers training, etc. Representatives of similar faculties from Rabat and Strasbourg were given the opportunity to introduce each other during a forum and themed workshops. “Face-to-face meeting is an ideal way to build bonds”, says Elisabeth Regnault, lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Learning Sciences. Discussions covered a wide range of subjects, including education, research, joint supervision and student or staff mobility. Rabat’s Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) and Strasbourg’s Faculty of Physics and Engineering signed a first agreement on 26 April. According to Francis Kern, Vice-president of international relations at Unistra, this first step should become a reference for new collaborations. Other projects are currently being developed, notably between Rabat’s ENS and Unistra’s ESPE (School of education), but also between the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of French Literature and Language. According to ENS director Mohamed Kalfaoui, this meeting was an opportunity to “go beyond the usual bilateral axes to work on concrete and long-term actions”, which should benefit both universities. Similar events will be arranged in the future to promote partnerships.
