Opening of the European Campus

The official opening of Eucor-the European Campus will take place on Wesnesday 11 May in Strasbourg, attended by the universities' presidents and rectors. The European Campus aims to come forward as a scientific cluster with an international outreach and enable its member universities to develop joint strategies in research and education.


Carlos Moedas, the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation will give the introductory speech. He will also take part to a round table addressing the expectations and challenges of this major project, alongside Thierry Mandon, Secretary of State in charge of Higher Education and Research. The morning ceremony will be followed  by the Doctor HOnoris Causa award ceremony. The recipients are:
  • Horst Hippler, president of the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie 2009-2012 and of Eucor in 2003 and 2011
  • Antonio Loprieno, rector of the University of Basel 2006-2015, president of Eucor in 2007
  • Hans-Jochen Schiewer, rector of the University of Freiburg since 2008, president of Eucor in 2009 and since 2013

The former website has been redesigned and includes new content dedicated to Unistra's cross-border partnerships and projects.
