American economist and Associate Professor at BETA University of Strasbourg-CNRS Julia Lane published a study on the impact of research investments and on the labour market outcome of doctorate recipients.
On Friday, 11 December 2015, Science published a report of the research led by Julia Lane and her collaborators investigating the labour market outcomes of research-funded PhD recipients from 8 American universities. This study aims to examine whether the expertise gained by researchers in conducting their projects propagates into the broader economy. The interest of the research lies in its innovative approach not only based on grants, patents or publications but also on the earning and placement outcomes of doctorate recipients.
