The University of Strasbourg hosts the Student World Forum

The Student World Forum 2015 has started in Strasbourg on the 19th of April, bringing together students from across the world around the theme « The European experience in local and regional democracy ».
The Forum, hosted by the University of Strasbourg in partnership with the University of Freiburg, is organised by the Academic Consortium for the 21st century (AC21). For five days, 38 students from South Africa, Germany, Australia, China, the USA, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, New Zealand and Thailand will discuss the theme « The European experience in local and regional democracy », which will be approached from four perspectives:
  • International cooperation in Europe
  • Local and regional cooperation for democracy: a major asset for European institutions
  • New energetic concepts, innovative materials
  • Cross-border clusters and business cooperation
In addition to this programme, participants will visit European institutions (European Parliament and Council of Europe), the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, the cities of Strasbourg and Freiburg and will enjoy a wine-tasting in the medieval wine cellar of Strasbourg's Hospices. Plenary sessions and workshops are broadcast on CanalC2, the University of Strasbourg's web TV.   About the Academic Consortium for the 21st Century The Academic Consortium for the 21st Century (AC21) was established on June 24, 2002 at the International Forum 2002 hosted by Nagoya University, Japan, as an international network composed of educational, research and industrial organizations throughout the world.
AC21 promotes cooperation in education and research between its members and the bridging between different societies in the world to share values, knowledge and cultures necessary to improve quality of life and to foster coexistence beyond national and regional boundaries in the 21st century.   More information
