The Centre for Integrative Biology (CBI) opened on Friday 23 January. This state-of-the-art research centre is part of the Institute of genetics and of molecular and cellular biology (IGBMC), and was funded by the Alsace region and the state.
The Centre brings together scientific skills and technological platforms of national and international importance: the Strasbourg branch of Instruct (a pan-European research infrastructure on structural biology) and the Frisbi project, funded by the Programme d’Investissement d’Avenir. It aims to lead research on complex biological systems.
According to Alain Beretz, president of the University, “the Centre for Integrative Biology is an incredibly attractive tool at the service of all. This outstanding place is an example of quality research meeting the world’s highest standards. It is the product of the cooperation between the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research), the Inserm (National Institute of Health and Medical Research), Alsace Biovalley, the state, the region, the regional council, Strasbourg’s city council and Eurometropole.”
