Over the past few weeks, Strasbourg has welcomed three LERU working groups: communication directors (26-27 November), Alumni networks supervisors (4-5 December) and Gender and Diversity Mission officers (4-5 December).
The Gender and Diversity Mission officers have investigated the practices, the organisation and the actions implemented in the 21 LERU universities to address the issues of gender and diversity, while the Alumni networks supervisors worked on making the best use of social networks in their development strategy.
Communication directors, for their part, have focused on the different ways to jointly address cross-cutting issues raised by university presidents or rectors, such as the use of experimental animals. During a visit of the European Parliament, the group had the opportunity to express LERU’s concerns about the reduction in European financial commitment towards higher education and research, pointing out the role of research universities in European construction.
