The first European "Tree of Peace" has taken root at the Faculty of Dental Surgery of Strasbourg. This sculpture created by Hedva Ser has become one of UNESCO's symbols of peace.
Alain Beretz, president of the University of Strasbourg, Corinne Taddéi, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery and UNESCO Artist for Peace Hedva Ser unveiled the Tree of Peace on 4 July 2016. This sculpture has become a symbol of peace and tolerance overcoming borders, cultures and religions. Ten Trees of Peace have been "planted" across the world so far; Strasbourg's is the first one to be inaugurated in Europe.
