Hemp against cancer

Over the course of several encounters and a "stroke" of destiny, Christian D. Muller, a pharmacology researcher at the Hubert Curien Multidisciplinary Institute (IPHC), has come to test the effects of hemp on cancer cells by cultivating them with a little known method. Member of the Francophone Union for Cannabinoids in Medicine (UFCM I Care), he will be present on 28 June 2019 at the international conference on pharmacological advances and therapeutic uses of cannabinoids.

Richard Schrock: a new researcher, 2005 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, welcomed at the University of Strasbourg at the end of 2019

The University of Strasbourg will welcome a new eminent researcher from the autumn of 2019: Richard Schrock, catalysis specialist, winner of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. His arrival obtained the financial support of the Eurométropole of Strasbourg and the Greater East Region.

Physicist chemist Thomas Ebbesen CNRS 2019 gold medal

Physicist and chemist Thomas Ebbesen, professor at the University of Strasbourg, has just received the CNRS gold medal. To celebrate this prestigious scientific award, the former director of the Institute of supramolecular science and engineering gathered his team and some collaborators and friends for a drink at noon on Wednesday 3 July 2019.

The University of Strasbourg joins the U7 alliance

The University of Strasbourg through its Chancellor, Michel Deneken signed the declaration of the U7 alliance and thus joined 48 universities around the world to meet the challenges of society. The first summit of this alliance, on 9 and 10 July in Paris, concluded with the signing of a list of concrete commitments.

Researcher partners with Greenpeace to save sea turtles

From 25 May to 13 June 2019, Damien Chevallier, a researcher at the Hubert Curien Multidisciplinary Institute (IPHC), was in Guyana to equip fifteen leatherback turtles with embedded cameras, biologgers and Argos beacons, which record behavioural and biological data. Equipment financed by Greenpeace which joined the mission from 3 to 10 June.
