Firearms in the United States: the price of freedom

Astronomical data from Gaia satellite unveiled

The scientific community of astronomy has been in full swing since Wednesday, 25 April, when the billions of data items collected by the Gaia satellite were made accessible to all by the European Space Agency (ESA). Available at the Strasbourg Astronomical Data Centre (CDS), this second Gaia catalogue unveils information on more than 1.7 billion stars.

Focus on molecular crystals for organic electronics

Researchers at the Nanochemistry Laboratory of the Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering (University of Strasbourg/CNRS), led by Paolo Samorì, have developed a new, gentle manufacturing technique that enables flexible and efficient organic electronic components to be produced from molecular crystals. This work was published on 10 May 2018 in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

The veil of CO2 fixation before the appearance of life is lifted

The laboratory of chemical catalysis of the Institute of Science and Supramolecular Engineering has been occupied with the origin of life on earth since 2016. A theme that has become central over the last six months with two publications in Nature Ecology & Evolution. The last, published on 23 April 2018 enabled researchers to show that iron had a central role in building biomolecules from CO2 before the appearance of life on earth.

Lemurs on a diet live longer

Eating less enables lemurs to live longer and in better health. The results of the study conducted by CNRS researchers in partnership with the National Museum of Natural History and Inserm were unveiled after more than 12 years of investigation. The work was published in early April in the Communications Biology review.

Concrete cooperation
