The Faculty of Historical Sciences focuses on the study of past societies from the Ancient Near East to the post-Second World War era. The Faculty's teachings rely on the conviction that knowledge and understanding of these societies are essential in understanding today’s individuals and society.
The Faculty provides training in the three main fields of historical sciences:
- history, mostly based on the study of texts
- archaeology, focusing on ancient monuments and excavation of archaeological remains
- history of arts, focusing on the analysis of painting, sculpture, architecture and applied arts
It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, leading to careers in the fields of education, museums, excavation, archives, or libraries and provides students with reading, writing, data collection and analysis, or synthesis methodology skills which are sought-after in many other professional fields.
