ThemesNews

Turkish sociologist Pinar Selek, who was wrongly accused of being involved in the 1998 Istanbul Spice Bazaar explosion, is back to Strasbourg as a postdoctoral researcher.
Since the 1st of September, she is working on the role played by the European Union in the recognition of the Armenian genocide, within the research unit “ Society, Stakeholders and Governments in Europe”. Through this “academic asylum”, the University of Strasbourg is showing once again its support to Pinar Selek in her fight for her acquittal. About the research unit Society, Stakeholders and Governments in Europe (SAGE) This research unit brings together researchers working on transnationalisation processes and their effects on political and social dynamics. In this perspective, emphasis is laid on transnational stakeholders who elaborate and implement new norms and policies in relation to new social issues (environment, health, ageing, social vulnerabilities, culture, urban areas, etc.) and on the territorial dimensions of these dynamics.
